Stanisław Skrowaczewski spent 19 years as music director of the Minnesota Orchestra, from 1960 to 1979, throughout which era he developed it into one of many most interesting orchestras in North America. They made many recordings collectively, principally for the VOX and Mercury labels, from which Raymond Bisha has chosen two remastered albums from the VOX catalogue that reveal their distinguished achievements. The programmes of music by Beethoven and Mozart embody Mozart’s Piano Concertos Nos. 17 and 27, that includes Walter Klien as soloist.
